Burnley opinion: Should the Clarets sign Benito Raman?
According to a report from the Accrington Observer, Burnley are keen on signing Fortuna Dusseldorf’s Belgian attacker Benito Raman. The 24-year old has been in fine form recently for the Bundesliga outfit and his performances have caught the eye of Sean Dyche.
Burnley have had a horrific season in the Premier League and at one point looked down and out. However, back to victories against Wolves and Bournemouth over the last two weeks have pushed them to 14th place where they look safe at least temporarily.
The Clarets have been heavily reliant on Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood for their goals this campaign which has been a massive reason in their downfall. The duo have directly contributed to 21 of Burnley’s 40 goals this season but the rest of the squad have failed to contribute consistently.
Burnley will need to bring in a goal scorer who will support Barnes and Wood up front and Benito Raman would a brilliant signing. The Belgian has been directly involved in 14 goals in 15 starts in all competitions so far and has had a hugely impressive campaign.
A product of Gent’s academy, Raman moved to Fortuna Dusseldorf in the summer of 2017. He played a massive part in the Flingeraner’s promotion to the Bundesliga, scoring 10 goals in 28 appearances in the German second division.
The 24-year old has continued his form this campaign and despite not being a regular starter, he has proven himself to be a fine player. Raman has featured on both wings and in a central role, so far this season and his versatility will be a huge asset to Burnley.
The Clarets could have him as a long-term replacement for Barnes, who will turn 30 in October. His presence on the right will give Dyche the option of playing Johann Berg Gudmundsson more centrally, where the Icelander could have a massive creative influence in the side.
The 24-year-old possesses an incredible right foot and has the ability to score from distance. Raman also has a fantastic eye for a pass and is often seen pulling them off with pinpoint accuracy.
When played on the wings, Raman’s runs are very intelligently timed and he has all the traits in him to become a fine player.

The Belgian’s versatility will provide Sean Dyche with a ton of options in terms of how he sets his team up and Raman would be a reliable option in any of the positions that he is capable of playing in.
