Fulham player ratings vs Burnley – Who impressed for the Cottagers?

Fulham opened their account in the Premier League with an entertaining 4-2 win against Burnley at a rainy Craven Cottage. Jean Michael Seri scored a sumptuous goal to give Slavisa Jokanovic’s men a perfect start, however, Jeff Hendrick pulled things back very soon.

Alexandar Mitrovic’s brace in a space of three minutes late in the first-half ensured Fulham had a sizable lead to hold on to. But Burnley were not to back down as James Tarkowski scored before the interval to keep the game interesting.

At last, Andre Schurrle scored the eventual winner to give the Cottagers their first win back in the English top-flight.

Here’s how the Fulham players were rated against Burnley:

Fulham player ratings

Marcus Bettinelli (7/10)

Played a sweeper keeper role when required and looked comfortable on the ball. He commanded the box admirably from crosses.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah (7/10)

Made some forays up the pitch but couldn’t provide the final ball. However, he caused enough problems for the Burnley defence.

Denis Odoi (6.5/10)

Started the game a bit tentatively but grew into it as the half went on.

Maxime Le Marchand (6/10)

Was at fault for Burnley’s first goal when he gave the ball away and got outmuscled by Tarkowski to concede the second. Improved in the second period.

Joe Bryan

Joe Bryan (6.5/10)

Was solid defensively but could have offered more going forward.

Kevin McDonald (7/10)

Did well to hold the midfield together in a frenetic game. Kept things ticking when required.

Jean Michael Seri (7.5/10)

Scored a momentous goal and put in a good shift in terms of making tackles and covering the space.

Tom Cairney

Tom Cairney (7/10)

Produced a lovely chip assist for Mitrovic but he wasn’t at his best in the first-half. He did improve in the second but Cairney limped off due to an injury later.

Luciano Vietto (7/10)

A slow start on his debut but provided a good assist for Mitrovic. Grew into the game and became a constant danger in the second half.

Aleksandar Mitrovic

Alexandar Mitrovic (8.5/10)

A fantastic display from the Serb, capped off by two well-taken goals. He held the ball well to allow the runners to join in.

Andre Schurrle (8/10)

A constant threat to the Burnley defence by cutting inside from the left. Scored a goal which was deserving of his performance.

SUBS

Calum Chambers (Sub on after 72 mins) (6/10)

Came on and slotted in the defence to see the game out.

Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa (Sub on after 78 mins) (6/10)

Came on for the injured Cairney and added fresh energy in the midfield.
