Swansea City Player Ratings vs Wigan: Here’s how the Swans fared

Swansea City played out a 0-0 draw against Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium as both teams floundered a number of chances in the final third. A draw keeps both teams in the same position and on same points, with the Swans still in the playoff zone.

Graham Potter will be frustrated that his team didn’t finish the chances it had. However, Swansea City did well defensively and ensured Wigan were kept at bay.

Swansea City Player Ratings

Kristoffer Nordfeldt (7/10)

Caused a few moments of worry with the ball at his feet but made a crucial save to deny William Grigg. He will be happy to keep the clean sheet.

Kyle Naughton (7/10)

He was defensively reliable and linked up well with Roberts down the right flank. He wasn’t as good as he was in the game against QPR but looked comfortable on the night.

Joe Rodon (7/10)

Was solid and reliable at the back once again. He had plenty to deal with as Wigan crowded the box but Rodon had no trouble in doing so.

Mike Van Der Hoorn (8/10)

Was superb once again, calm and composed in possession. Van Der Hoorn is proving to be a leader at the back for the Swans this season.

Mike van der Hoorn

Matt Grimes (6/10)

He was excellent in the first half as he started at left-back and was assured defensively. But Grimes was unable to offer anything going forward.

Jay Fulton (7/10)

Created a number of chances in the final third and had a good game against the club he played for on loan last season.

Tom Carroll (7/10)

He looked comfortable dictating the play from the deep and was very busy in an encouraging start. A shame for him to be forced off through an injury, given his rise in form.

Conor Roberts (9/10)

He was energetic throughout the night and caused all sorts of problems down the right flank. Roberts was unfortunate not to find the back of the net.

Bersant Celina (6/10)

He lacked a bit of accuracy and urgency in the final third. His decision making was not great in crucial moments.

Tom Carroll

Barrie McKay (6/10)

Another impressive outing for McKay but he did sometimes seem to overplay on the ball.

Oliver McBurnie (6/10)

Had some excellent touches but also some frustrating moments. It didn’t quite go right for McBurnie in this game.

Substitutes

Martin Olsson (6/10)

Provided decent impetus down the left after replacing Carroll.

Leroy Fer (6/10)

He was brought on to add some drive in the middle of the park but Fer was unable to produce much.

Wayne Routledge (5/10)

Had a few nice touches but didn’t have enough time to influence the game on the night.
