Brilliant Rashford – The Best And The Worst Rated Manchester United Players From Their 3-2 Win Over Arsenal

Teenager Marcus Rashford continued his brilliant start to his Manchester United career after scoring two goals and getting an assist. United’s win has dealt a major blow to Arsenal’s title hopes with Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur both winning this weekend.

After scoring twice on his debut against FC Midtjylland on Thursday, Rashford reacted quickly to steer home United’s opener. The teenager scored his second goal of the game three minutes later with a well-placed header past Petr Cech.

Former United striker Danny Welbeck got Arsenal back into the game with a header from Mesut Ozil’s free-kick. In the second-half Rashford held the ball up extremely well before setting up Ander Herrera whose long-range shot went in via a deflection off Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny.

David De Gea did well to stop Welbeck from scoring his second before Mesut Ozil’s volley gave third-placed Arsenal hope, but United did well to hold onto the three points.

United moved back into fifth position with their first win in three league games while Arsenal remain in third place, five points adrift of leaders Leicester City.

A brilliant moment of the game was from Louis Van Gaal. The United manager got very animated on the touchline after Ramsey shoved Ander Herrera, and the United manager toppled to the ground on the touchline as he tried to recreate an unpunished foul in front of fourth official Mike Dean. David De Gea – 7/10

De Gea made a brilliant save from Monreal early in the game. He couldn’t do much about both goals, but he did produce a great save from Welbeck before Mesut Ozil scored Arsenal’s second goal.

Guillermo Varela – 7.5

The right-back had an impressive game. He was booked early on but he managed to keep the ball in play before Rashford scored his second goal. He also provided the assist for Rashford’s first goal.

Michael Carrick – 7/10

Playing as a make-shift centre-back again, Carrick’s game was composed, he made some good tackles and overall had a good performance.

Daley Blind – 7/10

The Dutchman has been an important player for United since he joined in 2014. His ability to play in different positions is a trait Louis Van Gaal like his players to have. He produced another assured display against Arsenal to help United get the three points.

Marcos Rojo – 6.5/10

The defender was making his first start since having shoulder surgery and put in a good performance. He lost Welbeck in the build up to his goal and went off after he injured his ankle.

Ander Herrera – 7.5/10

Herrera put in another fine performance for United and is establishing his place in the starting 11. His deflected strike sealed the win for United.

Morgan Schneiderlin – 7.5/10

Van Gaal said the Frenchman gave his best performance against Midtjylland on Thursday and he impressed again, intercepting balls and protecting the back-four.

Jesse Lingard – 7/10

Lingard performed well yesterday, his looping cross provided the assist for Rashford’s second goal.

Juan Mata – 7/10

Mata provided very good link-up play and the ability to dictate the tempo of the game. His vision was brilliant and found pockets of space to help creates chances, including for the third goal.

Memphis Depay – 6.5/10

Memphis didn’t have as much of an impact as he had against Midtjylland but he is gaining confidence each game and he made some good runs.

Marcus Rashford – 9/10

After a brilliant debut against Midtjylland, Rashford scored another brace against Arsenal on his Premier League debut. He provided two great finishes and he assisted the third goal. A brilliant start to his United career.
