Brilliant Firmino: The Best And The Worst Rated Liverpool Players From Their 1-2 Win Over Swansea

klopp

The Reds completed a hard-fought comeback away from home to snatch a well-deserved victory against Swansea City last weekend. The 2-1 win, their 4th victory in as many league games proves once again why Klopp’s fighting-spirit philosophy is working well.

In what was generally a bad-good game for Liverpool, here is a breakdown of how each of the 14 players performed

Karius

Despite helping the team play up further the pitch, he had a lot of shaky moments catching some balls and also making decisions when the balls were crossed into his box. Was lucky not to have conceded as much as 3 goals.

Rating : 3/5

Clyne

Could pass for his best performance this season as he was even more of a threat going forward. He hardly put a wrong foot forward and Klopp would demand more of this from him.

Rating : 4/5

Lovren

Had a great game upon his return to the starting XI after sitting out the last game due to a viral infection. Was calm on the ball and confidently quelled Swansea’s few attacks.

Rating : 4/5

Matip

Proved why his starting spot won’t be given away anytime soon with a solid performance alongside the Croatian. Definitely a great transfer coup considering that he arrived for free.

Rating : 4/5

Milner

milner

Wrapped up a great all-round performance with a goal from the spot to seal all 3 points for Liverpool. He was a threat in his natural position, the left wing. However, he could have prevented the Swansea’s only goal if he didn’t lose his man during the corner.

Rating : 4/5

Henderson

Got himself into the referee’s book with a careless foul and for dissent which wasn’t really necessary. But still had a fair game and assisted Firmino’s goal with a great pin-point cross. Could have contributed more to the team’s attack though.

Rating : 3/5

Wijnaldum

Wasn’t at his best but still managed to combine with Mane, giving the Swansea defence a torrid time. He was replaced with Can after Liverpool’s winning goal on the 85th minute.

Rating : 3/5

Lallana

Suffered a groin injury on the 18th minute, and despite an attempt to shake it off, he eventually succumbed to the pain and was replaced with Sturridge

Rating : 2/5

Mane

Had a better 2nd half and continually constituted an attacking lethargy to Swansea’s defence. Had a couple of runs into their box but couldn’t make anything of them.

Rating : 3/5

Coutinho

Failed to create any moment of brilliance all game and couldn’t make any impact in attack. Definitely not his day.

Rating : 2/5

Firmino

firminogun

Was Liverpool’s best player and capped off a brilliant performance with a finely placed header. Always contributed greatly to the attack and might have gotten more chances if he played up front all game.

Rating : 5/5

Substitutes

Sturridge

Came on the 23rd minute for Lallana but failed to make any sort of lasting impression. Definitely still far away from snatching back his starting spot from Firmino’s hand.

Rating : 2/5

Can

Couldn’t make any sort of impact in 5 minutes.

Rating : N/A

Origi

Made one fine cross into Sturridge’s path in the box. That was the only memorable thing he could do in 5 minutes of play.

Rating : 1/5
