Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he is happy to let go of Sturridge in the coming winter window. The German has apparently given Sturridge the green light which means the striker will be allowed to depart Anfield if a worthy offer appears – reports the Daily Express.
Daniel Sturridge has not scored in the league this season as of yet and knowing the quality the 27-year-old possesses many will be surprised by the stat. The Englishman has fallen down the pecking order as Roberto Firmino has been in sizzling form for the Reds. But for Sturridge it has been painful to watch from the sidelines as his Liverpool team have scored the most number of goals this season but he still hasn’t found the net.
The former Man City man is wanted by a host of clubs including West Ham, Southampton and even Stoke. There is no doubt about Sturridge’s ability and the fee Klopp’s side are looking for is about £25 million for the out of favor centre-forward.
The Saints though are keen admirers of the Liverpool man and with the departures of Sadio Mane and Graziano Pelle to Liverpool and China respectively, they have struggled for goals. An addition of Sturridge to the team may bring out a real sense of positivity around St Mary’s although it could also mean the departure of Van Dijk, who has been solid for them this season.
Liverpool will look to swap Sturridge with Van Dijk as the Merseysider’s will look to sharpen their defensive line. Sturridge was instrumental when Liverpool finished 2nd in the league behind Man City in the 2013-2014 season but has been unable to get into the starting line-up in this current Liverpool unit.
