Best Possible Liverpool And Chelsea Combined Lineup Featuring 6 Reds And 5 Blues

Share

The most awaited fixture of this week’s Barclays Premier League is around the corner where Chelsea will be heading to Anfield to face the renovated Jürgen Klopp’s side, Liverpool.

Chelsea have been very poor this season, and not just the manager, the players are also to be blamed for the same. The ex-champions are currently struggling in mid-table and with how things stand, the Blues will finish not more than 9th spot in the table and are currently 10 points less than their rivals Liverpool.

Liverpool will be traveling to Switzerland next week to take on Seville in their first ever European Cup final in 9 years.

The recent results and the form of the players clearly supports Liverpool in the fixture, but in football, you cannot predict the score until the final whistle is blown. The clash will be an interesting one, and here we are making a combined XI for Liverpool and Chelsea-

Goalkeeper: Thibaut Courtois-

The 23-year-old Belgian has been far better than his fellow countrymen Simon Mignolet this season. Even though Chelsea struggled a lot in the league this term, he has been a great performer throughout the season. Mignolet, on the other hand, has been very sluggish and sloppy. Didn’t had a great impact in the league overall and that’s why, he has been omitted and Courtois has been named as the Goalkeeper for the squad.

Defence: Clyne; Lovren; Cahill; Moreno-

Well, the full back option were very much clear in the current scenario as both the mentioned fullbacks have been far better than Azpilicueta, Rehaman and Ivanovic. Liverpool’s young duo have been fantastic and the arrival of Jurgen Klopp has made them a beast in their department. If Sakho wasn’t suspended, the back four would have been Liverpool’s one, but as he is facing a ban, Cahill will take his position to replace Kolo Toure and he will be joining Liverpool’s Croatian import, Dejan Lovren who has been exceptional this season.

Midfield: Willian; Can; Fabregas; Firmino; Coutinho-

No one can argue over Willian’s place in the lineup here. The young Brazilian was outstanding this season and has been the great performer for the team all alone. No one from Chelsea’s squad have managed to match his performance this term and therefore, he will be our right wingman. Talking about the opposite wing, Philippe Coutinho has exploited many defences this season and many of them have failed to match the speed of the young Brazilian and that is why, he is our left wingman.

Milner or Fabregas? That was the biggest question in my mind, but to be very honest, I’d prefer Fabregas over Milner. His vision and his reading of the game makes him invincible. Milner is a great player and hardworking playmaker, but Fabregas has been better than him in many departments. Can will easily take the holding midfield role as Matic and Mikel have been under par this season.

Striker: Diego Costa-

It has been very clear that Liverpool are struggling to get a proper striker. Their star man Daniel Sturridge has been pretty good this term, but he cannot overtake the aggression and the desire of the Spanish striker, Diego Costa.
