However, that has changed since the past two years, with Mauricio Pochettino scaling new heights with the North Londoners. Tottenham came ever so close to winning their first Premier League trophy last year and are right among the top contenders this term as well.
Tottenham now have the pedigree to retain the best of their players and also attract the top talent across the world. And there is no better way to demonstrate this shift in power than rejecting Madrid in their pursuit of Alli.
