Barnes And Arfield To Start: Strongest 4-4-2 Burnley Line-up To Face Tottenham Hotspur

Burnley FC

Predicted Burnley XI To Face Tottenham Hotspur

Burnley host Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday on the back of an impressive home run with only one game lost all season. The loss came against Arsenal when the Gunners managed to score a stoppage-time winner to secure 3 points at Turf Moor back in October.

It will not be easy for Burnley to host Tottenham, who are placed 2nd in the table, 10 points behind leaders Chelsea. Spurs have been brilliant this season and it will be really hard for Burnley to keep them at bay. A draw would be a great takeaway for Sean Dyche as he prepares to host the flamboyant Tottenham Hotspur.

Dyche will look to field his strongest side to have any chance of gaining a point or 3 from this game against Spurs.

Team News:

Scott Arfield and Johann Gudmundsson remain as doubts for Burnley, with the Iceland international having sustained medial cruciate ligament damage. This match may be a bit too soon for him. Dean Marney has already been ruled out for the rest of the season and hence he will not be a part of the squad.

Formation: 4-4-2

Tom Heaton (GK)

Tom Heaton has been brilliant for the Clarets this season and there’s no reason why Dyche would drop him for a big game like this one.

Matthew Lowton (RB)

Lowton has been an ever-present figure for Burnley. However, he has not been consistent with his level of performances and he would be hoping to improve on that.

Michael Keane (CB)

He has been highly consistent for Burnley and is an undisputed starter for Burnley week in week out.

Ben Mee (CB)

He has been overshadowed by Keane, but Ben Mee has been quietly doing his job and has been extremely solid at the back. He should start this game for sure.

Stephen Ward (LB)

At left-back, it will be Stephen Ward. He has been performing just about okay in recent weeks and will hope to step up for his team against Spurs.

George Boyd (RM)

On the right-hand side of the midfield, we will once again see George Boyd. It is highly unlikely that he will sit this important game out.

Ashley Westwood (CM)

Ashley Westwood will replace Joey Barton. Expect the January signing to slot in at central midfield against a strong Tottenham lineup.

Jeff Hendrick (CM)

Alongside Westwood, we might see Jeff Hendrick retain his position in the middle. The summer arrival will be looking to find some form ahead of this big tie.

Scott Arfield (LM)

Scott Arfield might start ahead of Robbie Brady. Arfield is such an important player for Burnley and chances are less that he may be left out.

Ashley Barnes (ST)

Up front, it will be skipper Ashley Barnes. The striker scored a goal on his return, against Liverpool and will be looking to add more to his tally after failing to score against Sunderland.

Andre Gray (ST)

Partnering Barnes in attack will be Andre Gray. The club’s top scorer will be up against a tough Tottenham defence and he will look to trouble the struggling Eric Dier when the two teams take the field.
