How Could Barcelona Line-up If They End Up Signing Liverpool’s Coutinho?

Share

There has been a lot of speculation regarding the situation of the talented midfielder from Brazil, Philippe Coutinho, as the 24-year-old is playing the best football of his career and has started to turn heads of some giant clubs of Europe, who’ll try to snub him away from Melwood.

Coutinho has been the most important guy for Klopp’s team since the past season and he keeps rising and rising with outstanding performances every week for Liverpool and his Brazilian National team, so it’s only normal to think he might as well be on his way out of Anfield any time soon.

However, the Brazilian has repeatedly stated that he intends to stay at Merseyside and win a title for the Reds, and Jurgen Klopp and some people of Coutinho’s environment have confirmed that intention from the youngster, stating that there’s nothing to worry about Coutinho’s future.

Nevertheless, when a great team is keen to acquire a player, they can be really persuasive, and Philippe has become the main transfer target for Barcelona, a team that can easily lure every single player in the world. On top of that, he’ll play there with his long-time fellow Neymar Jr and with other former Liverpool glory, Luis Suarez, as well as the incentive to play alongside Lio Messi, of course.

So, if he finally winds up making this move, how could Barcelona team line up in order to make room for the talented offensive midfielder? Let’s think about it for a second.

Of course, Luis Enrique’s defensive end won’t change a bit with the arrival of Coutinho, and neither will that offensive trio of the “MSN” that features Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar Jr. So where can Coutinho play?

The Brazilian would actually have to play out of position in order to fit in Luis Enrique’s scheme, and Barcelona reportedly wants him to be Andres Iniesta’s successor, as the Spanish glory is struggling to remain fit and will turn 33 in a couple of months.

Andre Gomes hasn’t been able to perform well on a consistent basis for the Blaugranas, and neither has Arda Turan, so our best guess is that Coutinho could take the spot of the Portuguese to play alongside Sergio Busquets and Ivan Rakitic, leaving Barcelona really vulnerable on defence.

Obviously, Coutinho is an amazingly talented player that could have a starring role and play pretty good in almost every single team in the world, but it seems like making a move to Barcelona won’t be the best career decision for the Brazilian, who is Liverpool’s biggest star right now and would be the 4th go to guy at Barcelona.

On top of that, considering how much depth Barcelona has on almost every single position, a couple of sub-par performances could send Coutinho to the bench for a very long time, something that’ll never happen at Anfield, so if you ask us, he should stay at Merseyside for the long run if he wants to keep improving the way he’s done so far.
