Spanish sports daily El Mundo Deportivo are reporting that there are concerns among the Barcelona board over the future of Gerard Deulofeu, the 18-year-old sensation of Barcelona B. The Riudarenes born youngster has as his agent Gines Carvajal, who coincidentally also happens to be the agent of Victor Valdes and has just announced that the Spain international will not be renewing his contract with Barca.
After what happened with Valdes, and Carvajal‘s knack to put players on the ropes in order to get his demands, Barca are no longer sure on the renewal of Deulofeu, despite the players declarations on MD recently, “it is clear that I want to continue at the club.”
Gerard has a contract with the Catalan club until June 30, 2014, with a buyout clause of 10 million euros, a bargain for big European clubs as the player could easily be worth triple that amount in less than two years
.
Gines Carvajal will be a tough nut to crack for Barca in negotiating with Deulofeu. The agent, has famously represented many Real Madrid stars in the past, with the former merengue legend Raul Gonzalez being the most famous. He also represented Iker Casillas (until April 2008), Michel Salgado, Fernando Morientes and Santi Cañizares. Always attentive to the movements in the youth academies, Carvajal also represents Barcelona defender Marc Muniesa (20) and Real Madrid’s highly-rated youngster Jese Rodriguez (19), another player who is reportedly doubtful to renew with his club.
Real Madrid could be the club who can make use of the situation and force a move out of Barca for youngster Gerard Deulofeu. It all depends on the 18 year old whether or not he gambles with his future.
