Arsenal are looking to reinforce their defense for the future. Though they currently have quite good left backs in Monreal and Gibbs, they are apparently ready to pounce on a young Barcelona player as they look to secure their future as well.
It was reported in Portugal that the Gunners are currently interested in Álex Grimaldo, a 20 year old left back in La Masia. The news started by saying how the player will be a perfect fit for Benfica but slowly disclosed that Arsenal are also interested in the young left back.
Pep Guardiola was also said to be interested in the player having seen him first hand at Barca’s B team, but he seemed to be content with current Bayern left back duo David Alaba and Juan Bernat. Arsenal counterparts however is not that impressive. Though Grimaldo has not played any first team football a move is very possible considering that Arsene Wenger has been known to pick up young players from Barcelona academy. They would however have to fight Benfica, who are apparently ahead in the race.
