Arsenal Daily: Wenger Yet To Speak To Henry, Podolski Wants To Show That Goal To His Son

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry was on the stands to watch Arsenal demolish their rivals Tottenham Hotspurs last week and it was speculated that the MLS forward will train with his former club like last year and possibly join the Gunners on a two month loan deal. 

Wenger: We are improving as a team

When forwards Gervinho and Chamakh left to the African cup of nations last year, Wenger looked into Henry to step up for his old team, so did Henry and scored some crucial goals, notable the winners against Leeds United in the FA cup and against Sundeland in the Premier league. And Arsenal are set to lose their attacking duo this year again with the African cup of nations on January and may call up Henry again who will be looking to keep himself fit in the winter break.

“I just spoke about that [a second Henry loan spell] because people asked me,” Wenger told the club’s website (www.arsenal.com) on Thursday (Friday, PHL time).
“I said I don’t rule it out because he’s in good shape but I haven’t made up my mind yet.
“I haven’t spoken to Thierry about it. I just answered a question honestly that I have not completely decided how I will sort it out in my head.
“We are maybe looking at a striker because Gervinho is going to the Africa Cup of Nations.”

Podolski – I’ll show that goal to my son

Lukas Podolski scored a thunderous volley in the midweek champions league game against Montpellier which he himself would have been proud of. His goal booked the ticket for Arsenal in the last 16 of the Champions league and the German International wants to share the pleasure with his son. 

“I think it was a great goal,” Podolski told Arsenal Player. “I’ve scored a lot of goals in my career but this was a special goal. It was a home game, a Champions League game. I think it was a great goal, yes.
“[After scoring I waved to] my mother, who was upstairs in a box. She was there in the stadium and watched the game. [The goal] was for her.
“I think after my career, I will remember this goal and have this on my laptop and can watch the game. My son can look at this goal. I think it was a great goal and I’m very happy about it.”

The German International has admitted that he found it hard to adjust to the hectic demands of Premier League football after his move from Cologne this summer. Podolski has so far scored 4 goals, made 3 assists and had 18 shots on target in the league this year – not a bad.
