Are Liverpool After This Colombian Sensation From Serie A? And Reports From Standard Chartered’s Extended Deal

Share

There are certainly some good news for the Anfield faithful, amid these turbulent times, courtesy of a certain Luis Suarez.

Standard Chartered Bank and Liverpool Football Club have renewed their partnership and now the bank will be the club’s sponsor till the 2015-16 season. A partnership that started in July 2010, it is in its third year right now. Although, it is understood that the club is supposed to gain heavily from this partnership, details of the deal has not been made public for definite reasons.

This partnership has been beneficial for both the parties over the last few seasons and a number of activities have been initiated. Charitable programmes have been organised during this time and the players, staffs and the ex-players have rendered their voice to causes like preventive blindness and HIV awareness.

“We have enjoyed a fantastic first three years with Standard Chartered. We are delighted to announce the extension of our partnership, which demonstrates the belief and continued commitment to the work that we are doing together and the values that we share. There is a very bright future ahead for Standard Chartered and Liverpool FC as we continue to grow the world’s greatest football family,” mentioned Billy Hogan, Chief Commercial Officer, Liverpool Football Club.

On the other hand, Peter Sands, the bank’s officer stated “Our sponsorship of Liverpool Football Club has proved successful for both parties and we are delighted to be extending our partnership. Liverpool are hugely popular in the markets where we do business, and we are excited about the opportunity to continue to work with this fantastic club and their passionate fans.”

With their sponsorship deals secured, Liverpool must now look to strengthen their strike force, more so if Luis Suarez leaves. It has been reported in the Italian press and backed by Dailystar that Liverpool are keeping their eyes on Colombian striker Luis Muirel who plays for Udinese in the Seria A.

Muirel is considered as a natural goal scorer and his performance in the U-20 World Cup impressed everyone. But the fact that may stall the move for Liverpool is their lack of European football. Udinese finished fifth in the Seria A last season, qualifying for the Europa League and it is unexpected that the player would give up the chance to get featured in the European competition.
