Alberto Aquilani’s has officially moved to Fiorentina after a three year nightmare at Liverpool.
Aquilani moves to FiorentinaThe 28-year-old leaves Anfield having made just 18 Premier League appearances for the club, despite costing £17million when he was drafted in as Xabi Alonso’s replacement in 2009. As he struggled with the rigours of English football, subsequent loan moves to Juventus and AC Milan have followed over the past two seasons for the 22-times capped Italian.
A permanent return to his homeland has now finalised with Fiorentina a deal reportedly worth £3million, with Liverpool said to be subsidising his wages for the first two seasons of his three-year deal at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
“We have bought Aquilani,” Viola president Andrea Delle Valle told reporters at Fiorentina’s pre-season training camp in Moena.
This would make Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers step up their pursuit to sign Swansea’s Joe Allen, a player he knows well from their time together at the Liberty Stadium.
