Predicted Liverpool Lineup To Face Crystal Palace In The Premier League
Jurgen Klopp will be a happy man after his side managed to pick up an important victory over Hoffenheim in the Champions League qualifier on Tuesday, But he cannot dwell too long on the result and will have to come out strong in the Premier League this weekend when they welcome Crystal Palace to Anfield.
The Eagles were humiliated by the newly promoted Huddersfield side and are expected to come out all guns blazing, to a ground which has been fruitful for them in the recent past. Palace has not been a productive opponent for Liverpool and they will have put the 3-3 draw against Watford behind them, coming into this game.
Team News
The Reds are still without the services of Philippe Coutinho, who is nursing his back. Adam Lallana and Nathaniel Clyne are not expected to return anytime soon but striker Daniel Sturridge might find a place on the bench for this tie.
Manager: Jurgen Klopp
Formation: 4-3-3
GK – Simon Mignolet
The Belgian had a game to remember in Germany and should keep his place as the first choice for Liverpool in the league as well.
RB – Trent Alexander-Arnold
The teenager scripted a perfect debut in Europe, marking it with a sumptuous goal. He was also solid at the back and is a superb option in the place of the injured Nathaniel Clyne.
CB – Joel Matip
The senior centre-back in the squad, Matip had a nervous time at the back against Hoffenheim and will have a similar time against the likes of Benteke this weekend. So he’ll have to be on his toes.
CB – Dejan Lovren
The subject of frustration for most Liverpool fans, Lovren did not impress in Germany either but should continue to partner Matip at the back.
LB – Alberto Moreno
The Spaniard has found a life line in the first team this season and Klopp seems to trust him enough to start him at left-back in this league tie.
CDM – Jordan Henderson
The skipper of the side, Henderson should play as the deepest of the midfielders, a position that has been productive for him.
CM – Georginio Wijnaldum
Had a lethargic game in Germany but will hope to come back to form in what is a familiar territory at Anfield.
CM – Emre Can
The German midfielder had a solid game in the CL qualifier as well as in the first PL game of the season and will hope to continue his good work.
RW – Mohamed Salah
Though he failed to make an impact in Europe, Salah has already opened his account in the league and will hope to add to it this weekend.
LW – Sadio Mane
In the absence of Philippe Coutinho, Mane is now the talisman of this Liverpool side and will have to be at his best for his side to take all three points from this game.
ST – Roberto Firmino
The Brazilian false-9 was superb in the first game against Watford and will hope to have a similar impact in the first game at Anfield this season.
