After Higuain, Arsenal To Focus On Signing Lars Bender

With Higuain expected to sign for Arsenal officially this week, Arsenal shift their their focus on strengthening other key areas of their squad. Arsenal played the whole of last season without a proper defensive midfielder. Even though Arsenal midfield is super creative, they miss the steal factor to make them dominate teams physically. Arsenal want Lars Bender from  Bayer Leverkusen to fill this hole.

Some reports from Germany claim that Arsenal have already started the negotiations with a £19.6 million initial bid for the holding midfielder. Bayer Leverkusen seems to have rejected the bid as they recently sold one of their star player Andre Schurrle to Chelsea and they do not want to weaken their squad further by selling Bender. Arsenal need to increase their bid by at least £5 million in order to tempt  Leverkusen. Will Wenger spend this much cash for a DM?  Is Lars Bender that good? We will see how this transfer saga goes from here.

Lars Bender is a versatile player who can play in many positions (DM, CM and even as right back if needed). He is also gifted with a high work rate which is an essential attribute for any player in the English league. Want to know more about Bender? Please read this article,
