Hull City have had a difficult start to this season, losing three of the five league games played thus far, drawing one and just winning one of the other two. Manager Nigel Adkins would be a worried man as he seeks revenge on Derby County, who smashed the Tigers 4-0 in the League Cup tie at the KCOM Stadium.
Frank Lampard’s men are slowly starting to pick up form, which will be a terrifying prospect for Hull supporters.
Evandro got a red card during the defeat to Stoke City last week, so he won’t be available for this game. Jackson Irvine, James Weir and Ondrej Mazuj are on the injury table for the Tigers, the latter two being long-term.
The experienced shot-stopper has been decent between the sticks for Hull City. Expect him to start after the midweek rest.
Lichaj may start at right-back after a rest during the week. He has shown commitment.
He has improved a lot game by game. Adkins should give him opportunities to shine in central defence.
He has looked shaky at times, but with Angus MacDonald not any better, the manager might stick with the former.
The left-back wasn’t all that great against Stoke, as he allowed runners to get in behind. With Adkins short of options, he has no choice but to stick with the player and hope for a better outcome.
The hard-working Bowen has been up and down in his performance level thus far. Adkins would want more final product from him.
Batty has been decent for the Tigers in the midfield, ticking the ball over and controlling the tempo. Could be the first name on the team sheet for this game.
The Norwegian wasn’t at his best last week and got a midweek off. Should get another chance here as other midfielders didn’t cover themselves in glory on Tuesday when given the opportunity.
The Chelsea loanee did a good defensive job against Derby playing at right wing-back. Adkins would love more attacking threat from him this weekend.
Evandro is suspended for this game and Irvine is injured. So despite a no-show from Toral on Tuesday, he might get another go to improve his performance this weekend.
Dicko did well in the midweek game, but has he done enough to displace Campbell? Not sure. Adkins may give the latter a chance to lead the line.
