Full Time: Deportivo La Coruna 0-3 Real Madrid

Real Madrid began their La Liga campaign with a comfortable 3-0 win over Deportiva La Coruna, away at the Estadio Municipal de Riazor, on Sunday night.

Gareth Bale opened the scoring for Zinedine Zidane’s side in the 20th minute, before midfielder Casemiro doubled their lead seven minutes later. Toni Kroos made it three in the second half to seal all three points for the current La Liga champions.

It was a comfortable outing for Los Galacticos who have started the season in a very strong fashion. And here’s how the Madrid players fared on the night.

Real Madrid Player Ratings

Keylor Navas – 8.5/10

Made two very good stops to deny Florin Andone, early in the game. Saved a poor penalty from the same man late in the game to keep the clean sheet.

Dani Carvajal – 6/10

Not the best of the performances from the Spaniard, as he gave away the ball on a number of occasions. Conceded the penalty late on.

Nacho – 7.5/10

A commanding performance from the academy man after a slightly slow start. Read the game very well and kept Zakaria Bakkali under check throughout.

Sergio Ramos – 5/10

Remained solid for most parts of the game, but got provoked fairly easily by Andone. Picked up a yellow early in the second-half, before another yellow in the added time meant he was shown a red card for a record 23rd time.

Marcelo – 7/10

Solid in defence and strong going forward. Got the assist for Casemiro’s goal.

Luka Modric – 7.5/10

A stroll in the park for the Croatian as he dictated the tempo of the game, acting as the link between the defence and the attack. Was never really troubled by Deportivo.

Casemiro – 7/10

Scored the second goal with a simple tap in. Bossed the midfield areas, never giving an inch to the opposition to build up play.

Toni Kroos – 8.5/10

A flawless display from the German as he, alongside Modric, ran the show for Madrid. Crisp passing, strong tackling and a goal to cap it all off.

Isco – 7.5/10

Drove the Madrid attack forward with his dribbling and attacking verve. Linked up nicely with his teammates. Played a role in the third goal.

Gareth Bale – 7.5/10

Not a dominating performance by any means, but was present to tap the ball into the net for the opener, before teeing up Kroos for the third goal. A much-needed confidence booster.

Karim Benzema – 7/10

Grabbed the assist for the opener. Worked really hard for the team’s cause in the final third.

Substitutes

Marco Asensio – 7/10

Replaced Isco in the 68th minute, continued to shine. A well-hit free-kick late in the game was saved.

Marcos Llorente – 7/10

Replaced Casemiro with 20 minutes left to play. Did not put a foot wrong. Good positioning, solid distribution.

Lucas Vazquez – N/A

Replaced Bale for the final 10 minutes.
