Scouting For Leeds United – Signing These Two Stars Will Help Garry Monk To Pose A Strong Promotion Bid Next Season

Two Key Signings That Will Help Leeds United For Promotion Push Next Season

After what looked like an incredibly promising season under Garry Monk for Leeds United, all the good work done in the for most parts of the season was thrown away in the last few weeks where the Whites capitulated to finish outside the playoff positions, ending the season on a very disappointing note.

Having been in and around the third and fourth position for almost the entire season, a series poor results at the business end of the season meant the Yorkshire-based club finished just outside the playoff positions in the 7th place. With Monk failing to deliver promotion at the Elland Road this season, he will be under some pressure to achieve the jump to the big leagues next season.

And for that to happen, Leeds will need to start with a strong summer transfer window. Having seen the likes of Pablo Hernandez and Pontus Jansson come in last summer and make a serious impact, the Whites will be hoping to get their hands on similar recruits to aid their challenge for a return to the Premier League. To that end, here are two key additions that Leeds should look to sign, in order to enhance their chances of making the jump:

Lasse Vibe

Leeds, this season, have been heavily reliant on star striker Chris Wood to deliver the goals. When the New Zealand international has been unavailable or has been shackled by opposition defences, the Whites have struggled to get a positive outcome.

So a new striker should be a priority for the club in the summer. Brentford’s Lasse Vibe has been impressive in the Championship this season and finished with 15 goals and seven assists helping the Bees’ late push into the top half of the table. Brentford finished the season as fourth highest goal-scorers in the competition and Vibe’s importance cannot be understated. At 30 years of age, the Denmark international has the experience and the know-how and will provide Monk with an option to play two strikers up front.

Kyle Bartley

This one is a bit of a no-brainer really. After having seen the on-loan Swansea City defender impress heavily over the course of the season, Monk and Leeds should leave no stone unturned in trying to sign Bartley on a permanent move in the summer.

The 25-year old forged an excellent partnership with Pontus Jansson this season and went on to make 50 appearances across all competitions for Leeds. Bartley has taken up the mantle of the leader at the back and has done admirably well. While Swansea may have managed to stay up in the Premier League, there is no clear indication if Bartley will be a part of the plans under Paul Clement next season and Leeds should look to seal this one off as soon as possible.
