Cooper’s Nightmare Outing – The Best And The Worst Rated Leeds United Players vs Reading

Leeds United Player Ratings Vs Reading

Leeds United fell to a first defeat in eight games as Yann Kermorgant’s first-half effort gave Championship rivals Reading a 1-0 victory at the Madejski.

After a bright start by the Whites, Jaap Stam’s men scored the only goal of the game in the 21st minute when Kermorgant capitalised on some soft defending by the visitors, when he thumped a powerful effort from 20-yards past Rob Green.

The defeat saw Leeds drop to fifth place in the Championship standings, as Reading moved to 4th, with Garry Monk’s side now only 5 points clear of sixth-placed Fulham. Here is how the Leeds players fared.

Ratings:

Rob Green – 6/10

Made a great save to deny Gareth McCleary in a one on one situation and made a couple of vital stops in the second period to bail his defence out.

Gaetano Berardi – 6/10

Put in a combative display as usual, putting his body about and did make several crucial interceptions in the defensive third.

Kyle Bartley – 5/10

Had a difficult battle on hands against Kermorgant for large parts of the game. Looked shoddy and unconvincing, and the defence looked open as a result.

Liam Cooper – 4/10

Was the weak link in the Leeds defence and struggled against the Royals’ attackers. Was also involved in an incident where his boot caught Reece Oxford’s head; something that could be looked at by officials afterwards. Baffling to see him start ahead of Pontus Jansson.

Charlie Taylor – 5/10

The left-back was at fault for the goal as he deflected the ball straight into the path of Kermorgant, who made it count.

Liam Bridcutt – 5/10

Offered very little defensively and offensively. Struggled to impose himself in the middle of the park. Not the best of the games for Bridcutt.

Ronaldo Vieira – 5/10

The 18-year old midfielder had an off day against Reading with his performance way below the level that has been seen from the Portuguese so far. Was casual in possession on occasions and couldn’t assert himself on the field.

Hadi Sacko – 5/10

Another ineffective display on the right flank by the loanee. Made no impact whatsoever and was withdrawn on the hour mark by Monk.

Pablo Hernandez – 5/10

Had a couple of nice touches on the ball, but could not break open a resolute Reading defence.

Alfonso Pedraza Sag – 6/10

Saw a good chance drift wide of the post and looked threatening when in possession. Had a battle against the impressive Chris Gunter.

Chris Wood – 6/10

The Championship’s leading scorer struggled to get into the game as he was feeding off the scraps for long parts of the match.

Substitutes

Souleymane Doukara – 5/10

Replaced Sacko on the hour mark but did not have any impact on the game.

Kalvin Phillips – 5.5/10

Came on to replace Pedraza in the 67th minute. Made a few tackles in the midfield. Other than that, there was no noteworthy contribution.

Kemar Roofe – NA

Replaced Vieira in the 85th minute. Not enough time to have an impact on the game.
