4-3-3: Predicted Rangers Line Up To Face Celtic In The Scottish League Cup Semi-final

Rangers go into this match with one thing on their mind – revenge. They are at home and their fans will be up for this one more than ever.

A lot has gone on since then and the outspoken Joey Barton is out of the team following a bust-up. Rangers have reportedly looked a lot better since he has been left out. And they will want to build on that and prove a few people wrong.

Here is the team that is seeking to do that:

Wes Foderingham

The London-born, former England youth international will have had nightmares after his visit to Celtic park last month. He will be looking to put that behind him and keep a clean sheet.

James Tavernier

Tavernier started his career at Newcastle and has since his joining, he has been a great figure for the club. Part of the team that helped Rangers back into the Scottish Premiership last season, he is looking to show he is comfortable at this level in the biggest games.

The former QPR man has displaced ex-Arsenal player Phillip Senderos in the Rangers lineup. The 38-year old’s experience will be vitally important, but question marks remain over whether he has the legs to deal with a pacey Celtic front line.

Rob Kiernan

Another player that bounced around clubs in the English football league before joining Rangers last season and helping them to promotion will have a point to prove after being part of the defence that was breached with regularity at Celtic park.

Lee Wallace

The Rangers captain stated in the summer that he wishes to finish his career in Glasgow. He will need to guide his team through some tricky moments and lead by example if they are to produce a victory.

Andy Halliday

The Scottish midfielder was the player involved in the training ground bust-up that saw Joey Barton suspended for three weeks. He will need to show this level of fight and more in a midfield battle that will be hotly contested.

Jason Holt

The midfielder was a regular goal threat for Rangers last season in their promotion winning campaign. He has struggled for first-team appearances so far this season, but a return to goal scoring ways would go a long way towards him keeping his place in the starting line-up.

Niko Kranjcar

The Croatian international is the magic man in the Rangers team. Signing for Rangers in a 2 year deal in the summer, they will be relying on him to produce a moment of magic in what could be a tight game.

Barry McKay

McKay spent a few seasons struggling for football at Rangers, but when Mark Warburton arrived that soon changed. Recently called up for his first International cap, he has repaid the faith shown in him by the Rangers boss.

Kenny Miller

This is the second spell for the goal machine at Rangers. Curiously, he also played at Celtic for a few seasons, so he is uniquely positioned to understand this rivalry from both sides of the fence. It is vital that he takes any chances that come his way if Rangers are to win.

Martyn Waghorn

First made his debut in 2007 for Sunderland, the striker spent most of his time in the English Championship, but didn’t have the most prolific of records. This changed last season however as he scored 28 goals in 36 appearances and Rangers will be hoping of a repeat of that this season – starting against Celtic.
