Nigerian player Alex Iwobi has signed a new contract with Arsenal after the club revised their previous contract.
Iwobi had signed a contract with Arsenal last October which earned him a 10000 Pounds a week and which was to conclude in 2019. The revised contract will be paying Iwobi 30000 Pounds a week as wages and is set to run till 2021.
Reports suggest that the new contract was prompted after seeing the 19-year-old’s excellent form in the field, which has surprised even the French Manager Arsene Wenger. This is in some ways Arsenal’s way of rewarding the player as well as means to keep him in the club for a long-term.
Iwobi has started four league games this season out of his five appearances for the Gunners and has two goals to his credit. He scored during the matches against Everton and followed by one against Watford sealing the victory for the Gunners.
