Forget Signings – 3 Players Manchester United Should Sell This Summer

Manchester United is one of the wealthiest clubs around the globe. After the arrival of Louis Van Gaal, the club made no compromises or any bargain in signing the top quality players from around the world. But the arrival of the big names like Di Maria, Falcao didn’t had much effect on the table as the side finished their 2014-15 campaign sitting on the 4th spot on the table.

Louis had a tough task to build his side and from the beginning of this season as United have been hit by injuries and poor performances that provided some youth players of the academy their stage. Lingard is one of them, Marcus Rashford, Fosu Mensah and many others. But, what about the first team? Have they been performing like the good old days?

Absolutely no. The team have been very poor in front of the goal. Many players who were considered as one of the best in their department have been performing very poor. If the new manager arrives at the club, he will surely have a huge assignment of rebuilding the team in almost every aspect. The main reason for the team’s poor performance is inconsistency. The team somehow performs well in the big games but failed many times this season against the smaller sides.

Here we will be talking about those 3 players who United should sell in the coming transfer window.

Michael Carrick-

Michael Carrick

Not a very surprising name on the sheet huh? The player has been a key figure for the side for the last few years but surely not this time. The player has been very poor on the field. His tackling has been degraded, his ball control has degraded. His passing, for what this player was considered as a maestro has been faded. The Englishman had a passing accuracy of 90% and was very tough in terms of the possession and holding the ball. But this season, he has been performing really awful.

He formed a great partnership with Paul Scholes at his time and played a very important role back then. Last season was one of his best seasons in the United shirt but has slipped badly this season. He is getting a regular start just due to the injury of Schweinsteiger. He slows down the pace of the team and is very poor in terms of defending as well. He was well known for his ability to retain the possession in the tough situations but has fallen down this season.

I’m very sure that if Jose arrives, Carrick will be allowed to leave the club as the Portuguese will need some pace just like Matic had.

Marcos Rojo-

Marcos Rojo

After his shaky first season at the club, this Argentine is still struggling to set a firm hand on his position at the club. Rojo was played as a left back and as a centre back last season and did quite a nice job. Had 56 interceptions in his 22 appearances for the club and had a passing accuracy of 85%.

But, following his injury this season the player has managed very less number of appearances i.e 11 and averages a passing accuracy of just 71%. Though the player has admitted that he will leave England once his contract expires, the club should sell him in the coming transfer window as he has not lived up to the expectations of the fans and the manager.

United will not struggle at the back if the Argentine leaves as they will get back Luke Shaw from the new season, Darmian is the player who can play on both the flanks until then. United have Jones (injured most of the time), Smalling, Blind, Fosu-Mensah, Valencia and young who are capable of playing at full backs position so surely, United will have no harm if they sell Rojo.

Adnan Januzaj-

Adnan Januzaj

A couple of seasons back, the world thought that Manchester United have found a new Ronaldo in the form of the Belgian Adnan Januzaj. He had a regular starting time when United was under David Moyes and the player continued to surprise the Devil’s section of the crowd. At the start of the 2014-15 season, he was awarded the number 11 shirt previously worn by United’s legend Ryan Giggs and the world thought that the player would save United from their misery.

But, When Van Gaal arrived, he brought some big names in the club like di Maria and Falcao and what not so, eventually Januzaj’s playing time was cut short under the Dutch manager. He was then finally loaned out to the German outfit Borussia Dortmund and was recalled after playing just 12 games for the side.

At the age of 21, he has made just 4 appearances for the club and have failed to show his capabilities. The player is criticized for being selfish in front of the goal which saw him in a dispute with the Dortmund manager where he was accused of showing a bad attitude towards the manager.

And as the Likes of Lingard and Martial are increasing in the wings, I don’t see Januzaj fitting in the squad for Van Gaal or any of the upcoming Manchester United’s manager.
