93% pass success, 2 goals – Klopp can revive the Liverpool frontline by signing this midfield powerhouse in January

Why Liverpool should definitely revive their interest in Adrien Rabiot

Liverpool returned to winning ways against Huddersfield Town after the Reds picked up a 1-0 victory at the John Smith’s stadium this weekend. Mohamed Salah slotted in the only goal of the game to end a personal drought and the Merseyside club’s four-game winless run.

But the Reds’ front men have failed to hit the high standards they set last season. Liverpool were a free-flowing offensive side that racked up the goals for fun last campaign. This time around, Jurgen Klopp has managed to tighten things up at the back but their frontline seems to have stuttered.

This could be due to the lack of a creative midfielder in the squad. The likes of Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Georginio Wijnaldum are all hard workers but have failed to provide much going forward. They have dutifully done their job at the back but seem to lack the cutting edge up front.

This is why Liverpool should revive their interest in Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot. The Frenchman was linked with an exit from the club throughout the summer but ultimately stayed put at the Parc Des Princes.

Adrien Rabiot

According to the Express, Rabiot is now set to sign a new deal with the French Champions, which could put any potential transfer to the sword. But Jurgen Klopp can still try and convince the midfielder to make the switch to the Merseyside.

Rabiot will definitely flourish at Liverpool, dictating the play in the middle of the park. He is a seamless passer of the ball and is excellent at distributing swiftly without having to break up the play. The Reds have lacked someone of his quality.

Often, James Milner and Georginio Wijnaldum resort to cutting back and playing the safe pass rather than dispatching one for the forwards.

But with Rabiot’s ability on the ball and his range of passing, the likes of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah can time their runs behind the defence while the Frenchman lobs the ball over.

He has averaged a pass success rate of 93.1% in the Ligue 1 this year, while also averaging 87% in the Champions League. The 23-year-old has also scored 2 goals in 9 appearances this season. (Stats courtesy – Whoscored)

Liverpool should definitely revive their interest in the talented central midfielder. He has proven his quality and now would be a good time to make the move to the Premier League. Under Klopp, the youngster will also receive the right kind of development to take his career to the next level.
