3 Players Who Can Turn Liverpool Into Genuine Title Contenders – Featuring A 25-Year Old Napoli Superstar

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool were in the mix of things until the turn of the year at the top end of the table. But a couple of months of mediocrity has seen them fall flat and lose their shot at silverware this season. Standing at 4th place in the points table with just ten games to go, Liverpool are yet again far away from their dreams of a league title. But there is a belief among the Liverpool fans that their German tactician can get the title to Anfield in the near future. The squad at the club has the making of a title winning side but surely needs a few additions in a couple of positions to allow them to maintain their intensity throughout the season. Klopp will surely spend big in the transfer market as he will not want to miss another chance to give a go at the Premier League title. They need players who can walk into the first team next season and here are three such stars Jurgen Klopp should target this summer:

Mahmoud Dahoud (Borussia Monchengladbach):

The German midfield sensation is one of the most attractive players in his position. Linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund and Juventus, Dahoud has been on the radar of the Anfield outfit for almost a year now and having not decided on his future yet, the 23-year old would be on the top of the wishlist for Liverpool. Lack of a central defensive midfielder has cost them a number of points and games this season and Dahoud, who will fit in perfectly in Jurgen Klopp’s system at Anfield, can make this Liverpool side more exciting and solid at the same time. Surely his addition can make Liverpool serious title contenders.

Virgil van Dijk (Southampton):

Arguably the most wanted transfer for Liverpool fans around the world this summer is that of Southampton star Virgil van Dijk. The Dutch international has missed the whole of last month through injury but has been one of the best defenders in the league this season. Linked with an exit in the summer and also in January, Van Dijk could yet stay at Southampton but he is wanted by Manchester United, Chelsea and a couple of other clubs this summer. Liverpool have reportedly opened talks with the 25-year old and are confident of landing him and if they are able to lure him to Anfield, a center back partnership of Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk would be a hard one to crack.

Lorenzo Insigne (Napoli):

The 25-year old Italian star is one of the most exciting players in the Serie A at the moment and is a transfer target for Arsenal and Chelsea recently. But Liverpool have also joined the race for his signature which could make them a formidable side next season. Though they have been linked with the likes of Alexander Lacazette, Timo Werner, Inaki Williams and Moussa Dembele, Liverpool need a player who can fit in well under Jurgen Klopp and Insigne seems to the best fit in this group. With 13 goals and 10 assists in all competitions this season, the 25-year old has been in superb form and could be the man to solve the striking problems at Anfield next season. Surely his versatility, coupled with Klopp’s style of play can take Liverpool closer to the Premier League title.
