3 replacements for Morata who Chelsea can target including 28-year-old Burnley star

Alvaro Morata

Three Replacements For Alvaro Morata Who Chelsea Can Target

According to Corriere dello Sport (h/t the Independent), Juventus are interested in re-signing Alvaro Morata from Chelsea in the summer.

The Spaniard has endured a mixed first season at Stamford Bridge following his £57million switch from Real Madrid. He started off very well in the Premier League but a back injury saw his form fade away. He now has 14 goals in 41 outings for Chelsea.

The report claims that Chelsea are confident of Morata enjoying a better second season at the club and believe that the problems he has experienced are normal for a player adapting to a new league and a new nation.

Nevertheless, should Morata leave Chelsea in the summer, here are three strikers the Blues can target.

Wissam Ben Yedder (Sevilla)

Known for his ability to quickly make an impact, Wissam Ben Yedder could be a fantastic addition to Chelsea’s attacking ranks.

The 27-year-old is having a good season with Sevilla, with him impressing the most in the Champions League this term.

The Frenchman is a good finisher who loves to play through balls and make key passes. Blessed with excellent technical prowess, Ben-Yedder could be a top signing for Chelsea but might struggle physically in the Premier League.

Ashley Barnes (Burnley)

A name that might raise plenty of eyebrows, Burnley’s Ashley Barnes could be the ideal replacement for Morata should the Spaniard leave in summer.

Barnes has been a force to reckon with for the Clarets this season, although his goals tally doesn’t tell you the entire story. What makes the 28-year-old different from Burnley’s other strikers is his overall work ethic and his ability to take on opponents in tight spaces.

Known for his physical presence and power in the box, Barnes can act as the perfect targetman for the likes of Willian, Eden Hazard and Pedro. He has a different style and approach to his game and is one of the brilliant headers of the ball in the Premier League.

Edinson Cavani (PSG)

Cavani has been on fire for Paris Saint-Germain this season, playing as the lone striker with Neymar and Kylian Mbappe brilliantly aiding him from either flank.

49 goals in 50 games last campaign was a vindication of sorts, and having already scored a truckload of goals this season, the Uruguay international is on the course to scripting his name into the La Parisiens’ record books.

The 30-year-old is a genuine goalscorer, a poacher in every sense and brings his teammates into play before creating spaces for them to exploit.

Cavani may not have previous experience of playing in England but has established himself as a lethal striker in Europe. He could be a smash hit at Stamford Bridge.
