3 Reasons Why Mohamed Salah Has Been The Signing Of The Season In The Premier League

Liverpool’s attacking sensation Mohamed Salah has instantly become one of Premier League’s hottest attacking prospects, thanks to his blistering performances this season.

The Egyptian wizard has already notched up a remarkable scoring tally, which has helped Liverpool maintain their impressive campaign. The former Chelsea outcast has proved to be a complete revelation under Jurgen Klopp, since moving from Roma last summer.

While there have been some great signings in the Premier League this season, none could match the impact that Mo Salah has provided and hence, in this article, we will discuss three reasons as to why the Egyptian has been the signing of the season in the Premier League this season.

He Has Reinvigorated The Liverpool Attack

It’s probably needless to mention the fact that Liverpool have been one of the most impressive attacking teams in Europe this season and most of the credit should be given to Mohamed Salah.

The addition of the Egyptian international has completely reinvigorated the Liverpool attack, which looked quite dire, at times, in the past. The fact that his style of play clearly suits Jurgen Klopp’s needs is what that made him settle so quickly at Liverpool.

Salah and Mane’s pace on the flanks coupled with the trickery of Roberto Firmino has helped the club combine a lethal frontline combination, which has already combined for 63 goals in all competitions this season.

He’s More Than Just A Winger

Mohamed Salah was initially advertised as a winger when he first arrived at Liverpool last summer. However, considering his blistering performances this season, it’s clearly evident that the former Chelsea winger is more than just a regular winger.

Salah is someone who is always keen to get the ball but also has no trouble without it either, as he often likes to make darting runs in behind the defence. He is not one of those old-school wingers who like to get to the byline and provide crosses. His tendency is to always drift into the penalty area and this helps him get into some great poaching positions.

For a winger, Mo Salah has some great finishing abilities, which is clearly reflected in his highly impressive scoring tally this season. The Egyptian has already notched up 30 goals in all competitions and 22 of them have come in the Premier League, a tally only bettered by Tottenham’s talismanic striker Harry Kane.

For £34m, Mohamed Salah Is A Real Bargain

What we often forget is the fact that Mohamed Salah arrived at Liverpool for a fee of just £34m, which is normally a snip in today’s market, especially for the top Premier League outfits.

Just to put things into perspective, Liverpool signed Southampton Virgil Van Dijk for more than double of what they paid for the signature of Mohamed Salah. In addition, since his move to Liverpool last summer, Salah’s market value has taken a gigantic boost.

On October 23rd, the Egyptian had a market value of £36m, as per transfermarkt.co.uk. However, the former Chelsea man’s value has already doubled (£72m) in the most recent market value change, earlier this year. This reflects Salah’s meteoric rise from being a highly-rated winger to becoming one of the world’s best attacking prospects in the span of just half a season.

All these points are duly enough to stress the fact that Mohamed Salah has by far been the best signing in the Premier League this season and it would definitely be interesting to see as to what measures Liverpool take in order to keep hold of their star player for the long-term.
