3 Quality replacements for Courtois that Chelsea can consider including £62m Liverpool target

Three Goalkeeping Options For Chelsea To Consider If Thibaut Courtois Leaves This Summer

Real Madrid’s quest for signing a new goalkeeper continues and after targetting Manchester United’s David De Gea for the longest time, Los Blancos have reportedly turned their attention to Chelsea shot-stopper Thibaut Courtois.

The Belgian is undoubtedly one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League at present, and it honestly comes as no surprise that Real have been harbouring an interest in acquiring his signature.

Their pursuit of De Gea continues to be in vain as United do not appear close to selling their beloved ‘flying Spaniard’ and Zinedine Zidane might have to make do with Courtois instead. However, if they succeed in convincing the Chelsea star to move to Santiago Bernabeu this summer, the Blues will have quite a situation at hand.

To make matters worse, PSG are also keen on signing him and if Courtois does depart by the end of the season, here are three goalkeeping options for Chelsea to consider.

Jack Butland – Stoke City

Butland is the most enticing young option in the Premier League and he has attracted attention from several clubs. Convincing Stoke to sell him will prove to be quite a task but the right price tag should be enough to sway their mind.

At 24 years of age, Butland has displayed impressive skills and has worked immensely well under pressure as well. Even at times when the Potters have struggled, Butland put up a strong show at the back and he could prove to be a solid new addition for Chelsea.

Jan Oblak – Atletico Madrid

There are very few clubs that Oblak has not been linked with yet. He is at the very prime of his career and he has been in sensational form for Diego Simeone’s club.

Now, there is no doubt that signing Oblak would be quite expensive but considering what Chelsea will get in return, it is a move they must definitely consider. Blessed with lightning-fast reflexes and a good understanding of the game, Oblak could be the ideal solution to replace Courtois at Chelsea.

Alisson Becker – AS Roma

One might argue that Becker is being actively pursued by Liverpool but Alexis Sanchez’s transfer has taught us that we can never be too sure about any deal. The Roma stopper has been incredible for the club this season and although Liverpool have registered an interest in him, it could honestly be anybody’s game at this point.

Also, the £62m-rated Becker is easily one of the most promising goalkeeping candidates across Europe right now and he could work wonders at Stamford Bridge as well.
