Down And Out! Three Premier League Stars Who Seem To Have Lost It This Season

The Premier League is already seven weeks old this season and there has been enough entertainment to establish it as the most exciting league in Europe at the moment. Clubs around the country have settled into the new season and will look to improve as the season progresses but a few players in the league have not been able to make great starts to their seasons.

A number of star players, who were expected to take the season by storm, have miserably failed to establish themselves at their clubs and here are three such players, who seem to have completely lost it this season:

Christian Benteke (Crystal Palace)

The Belgian striker is a capable goal scorers on his day but he has not been able to show his prowess in front of goal this season at the Selhurst Park. Palace are yet to score a goal this season in the top flight and Benteke’s failure in front of goal is an important factor in that stat. The Big Belgian is known for his strength and ability to score goals even when at his worst but this season, he is yet to find the back of the net and is now injured for a lengthy spell. Surely, he is one player who might be losing it.

Dejan Lovren (Liverpool)

The Croatian defender was amongst the best in England when Liverpool made a move for him under Brendan Rodgers. But three years on, Lovren is probably the player who has cost Liverpool most number of points in the league and also in Europe this season. His lack of defensive discipline along with his knack of committing errors has left Liverpool reeling with just three victories in the league and just two points in the UCL. He was expected to get better but Lovren, as a defender, is only getting worse.

Mesut Ozil (Arsenal)

Though it might be a bit early for the German to find his name on this list, Mesut Ozil has zero goals and zero assists in five league games this season. He has not made an appearance outside the league this season and has not been such integral a part of the squad as he usually is for the Gunners. With nothing to show for his efforts this season, Ozil is also just coming back from an injury and it is high time that he starts adding to those numbers at the Emirates. After all, this could may well be his final season in London.
