Mauricio Pochettino’s men have little chance of lifting the Premier League title this season but the manager will be hoping to build on the progress his side has made this season. They currently stand 2nd in the table and are sure to qualify for the Champions League. But Pochettino has a few problems going into the summer transfer window.
The squad at the club has been impressive this season and this has seen a few clubs scout for their first team players. One such player who is wanted by a host of clubs is fullback Kyle Walker. The first-choice English right-back is one of the most productive players in his position in England but Pochettino may not be able to keep him at the club, after reports of a recent bust-up. So, it might be time for them to start looking at alternatives for the 26-year old. Here are three such players who Tottenham can target this summer:
One of the most versatile players in Serie A at the moment, De Sciglio has constantly been linked with a move to the Premier League and Spurs should look at him if they lose walker this summer. Capable of playing on either wing, De Sciglio is an attacking and productive fullback like Kyle Walker and will fit in perfectly under Pochettino’s system at the White Hart Lane. However, they will have to fend off interests from elsewhere to take him home.
Another exciting player that the Spurs can target is PSG’s second choice right back Meunier. Fighting with Serge Aurier for a first team place in France, Meunier could be looking for a club to be the first choice and will probably walk into the first team at the White Hart Lane if Tottenham sell Walker. At 25, he is a long-term prospect and the Belgian contingent at the Lane could help Spurs secure his signature.
This sounds ridiculous, yes. But Hector Bellerin is one of the top most talents in Europe and has been a revelation ever since he broke into Arsenal’s first team. It would be impossible to convince Arsenal to sell Bellerin in the first place but right now, he looks lost. Wenger has used Oxlade-Chamberlain as the right wing-back and this has seen Bellerin stay on the bench in the last few weeks. If Arsene Wenger decides to continue playing 3 at the back, then Bellerin’s Arsenal future would look bleak. So why not give it a try? A revenge for losing Sol Campbell maybe?
