3 Players who Derby County must sell this summer including 24-year-old defender

Three Players Who Derby County Must Sell In The Summer

Derby have not had the most successful of seasons this term and it is looking quite unlikely now that they will be playing Premier League football next year unless they pick their game up over the next couple of weeks.

If they do stay in the Championship then they will need to bring some quality players in if they are to challenge for promotion again next season. To bring players in, they must also offload a few. These are the three who they must sell:

Andre Wisdom

The 24-year-old right-back has not been in great form for Derby this season and they must look to upgrade this position if they are to push on next season.

He’s still at the right age and it shouldn’t be too hard to find a buyer for him. However, it does seem like it might be time for Derby to move him on and buy a better replacement.

Luke Thomas

The youngster has had a great transition season this year, moving from the under 23s to be considered by Gary Rowett for his first-team plans. A few Premier League clubs are sniffing around him and being a young Englishman, he could command a fairly big fee even with a relatively small amount of football under his belt.

If they get offered a decent sum for him, then Derby must let him go and invest that money in a first-team quality player who could make the difference in their promotion push.

Richard Keogh

A controversial shout but the Derby skipper has been in pretty poor form this season and it looks like his ability to play consistently for a promotion-challenging team could be starting to wane.

There is no doubting his passion for Derby but if they could get a decent offer for him then they should consider moving him on as Pearce and Davies seem to have taken his place in the starting XI.

They could also use some of that money to buy a younger and proven Championship defender, someone who could be pushing to get into the starting squad and improve the Derby defence.
