3 Players That Arsenal Need To Axe Next Season

Almost every team in the Premier League has a rather large team with a lot of players on huge wages and as more FFP rules come into play, taking care of your finances is really important. The need for cutting down on players might not be that great for most clubs, but the top clubs always have an extra player or two.

Arsenal are known to bring in youngsters from their academy into the team or signing young players. We look at 3 players who could be culled and should be culled from the Arsenal team next season.

Mertesacker to sign a contract extension
Mertesacker

Per Mertesacker

Ther German has been caught time and again this season in the Premier League for the Gunners, while most people knew about his lack of speed, this season has been more about him making judgmental errors during games which have cost Arsenal dearly.

Arsenal are in the market for a new defender and this surely is for a replacement for the German world cup winner. Mertesacker still might be one of the most experienced defenders out there but the tough and speedy nature of the Premier League might be a little too much for his body right now and Arsenal do need to replace the German asap.

Wojciech Szczesny

Another big name player who could have played his last season for the Gunners or should have played. Szczesny has not been the best goalkeeper at the club and while Ospina did have a rather touchy beginning, he has grown into his role as the number 1 goalkeeper for the Gunners.

Arsene Wenger has also had a couple of run-ins with the goalkeeper and even the father or Wojciech criticized Arsenal and a couple of players, this really should not be news but Wojciech should be replaced from the team and is a sure shot to being sold in the summer by Arsenal.

Tomas Rosicky

The Czech midfielder might look silky when he plays for the Gunners, but that has been far too less this season. Injuries have wrecked the Czech’s season at the Gunners and at the wrong side of 30 as well, it might be time for the Gunners to let Rosicky leave at the end of this season.

It isn’t just the injuries which have been a problem but the fact that there is so much competition in the team, Rosicky might be better off playing at another club which can guarantee him proper first team football.
