Three Players Who Leeds Should Sell In The Summer

Leeds United are one hell of a tumultuous club and will once again be the subject of an overhaul this summer with another new manager looking to put his stamp on things.

Paul Heckingbottom is desperate to be the man who finally leads this massive club back to where they feel they belong – the Premier League.

Matthew Pennington is on loan and should return to his parent club while the likes of Pierre-Michel Lasogga and Pablo Hernandez are out of contract in the summer so a shake-up will be needed.  To help raise funds, the following three may be expected to move on:

Andy Lonergan

Although some Leeds fans made noise about him replacing a slightly shaky Felix Wiedwald early in the season, temporarily getting their way, the brutal fact is that when he has been given a chance in the first team this year he has been far from good enough.

Lonergan currently has the lowest average rating of any Leeds players on Whoscored.com and was even willing to join Sunderland in the January transfer window, a move that didn’t come off in the end.

The ‘keeper is under contract until 2019 so a fee will need to be involved, but it is easy to see Leeds looking for another stopper in the summer at Lonergan’s expense.

Stuart Dallas

Dallas signed a contract extension in the summer but has not really hit the heights and at 26, we pretty much know what to expect from him now.

He is the type who could bring in a little bit of money with which Leeds can look to further strengthen their playing squad under Paul Heckinbottom in order to mount a proper, sustained promotion challenge.

Eunan O’Kane

O’Kane has even captained Leeds recently, but with the central midfield area being one Leeds are always looking to improve and players such as Kalvin Phillips and Ronaldo Vieira already there and improving every month it would seem 27-year-old Kane’s chances will become limited.

At that age, we know he won’t get much better but is still in prime position to be able to bring in a reasonable transfer fee for the club so this summer is the time to sell him on you would think.

Having signed a contract extension until 2021 just last summer, the club will be in a pretty strong position to barter with whichever club shows a serious interest in his services.
