20 Metres Passing Length With 70% Accuracy: Can This New Liverpool Signing Be A Blessing In Disguise For Klopp?

Share

Liverpool Football Club and Bournemouth are one of the few premier league clubs who have actually made the first few moves of the transfer window to add to their advantage. Having already signed midfielder Marko Grujic of Serbia, Liverpool have made another move and landed in English International and QPR centre-back Steven Caulker for the remainder of the season.  While Steven Caulker will travel to Merseyside and take part in Klopp’s final training session ahead of Arsenal game, we look at the contribution of Steven Caulker amidst the injury stricken run.

What will be Caulker’s contribution:-

With Dejan Lovren, Martin Skrtel expected to be completely unavailable for Arsenal game, Liverpool finds itself to be uncertain upon Kolo Toure and Mamadou Sakho’s availability as well.  At this time, it’s pretty clear why they had to go for a centre back to replace them immediately and quite frankly they’ve got a really good one who already has experience about the English game.

Statistically speaking, Caulker is a really good signing. Having played the 2013/2014 season for Cardiff city and the 2014/2015 season for Queens Park Rangers, Caulker has made over 70 league appearances and has played a crucial role in helping out at the defensive sector at vital moments of the game. Quite astonishingly Caulker’s average passing length is approximately above 20 metres. His average passing accuracy is over 70%, which is a brilliant achievement for a defender.

Not only does this show his effort but it also shows his ability to play out of tough times with the clever use of his feet. In the 2014/2015 season for Queens Park Rangers, Caulker made several clearances and his clearances were estimated to be 77% while he made 14.7% Interceptions in 35 appearances.

Individually, neglecting the quality of the team which includes the quality of his defensive partner as well, Caulker was a really good asset in the QPR side and here is why:-

with eye-catching performances and it was inevitable that he will someday move to a bigger English club and eventually he has joined the Merseyside giants rather than a certain club from the South Coast.

Talking logically, It is clearly evident that Caulker will play a role in Liverpool only till the injury crisis becomes better and players return unless of course Caulker puts up an impressive display. In my opinion, Caulker will need time and we can’t be judgemental as of now. It is highly unlikely as of now to say that Caulker shall be a blessing in disguise because every defender needs some time to gel with the team. He needs time to have the understanding of what the team wants of him and play out according to that.

Admitting the truth that Caulker is a calculative buy who has enough in him to shine and impress, as of now It’s truly up to the player to announce himself and prove that he was indeed the blessing in disguise for Liverpool.
