Two Last Minute Deals That Hull City Could Complete This Summer

Hull City have taken a major backward step on paper since last year, just losing their relegation battle despite some spirited displays under then-boss Marco Silva, and then losing the likes of Curtis Davies, Tom Huddlestone, Harry Maguire and Andy Robertson in the transfer market.

It’s not all doom and gloom though; Kevin Stewart could be a decent signing for them and a draw at Villa and a narrow defeat against Wolves are not disastrous results. They’d do well to sign more players and here are two players they could bring to the club in the last minute, to help their cause.

Ahmed Musa (Leicester City)

The former Premier League champs seem keen to get rid of the Nigerian but despite this, he is better than a filler at Championship level and would be a great addition after all the transfer negativity.

He scored just 2 in 21 when given his Premier League chance by the Foxes last season but his past record is way better. 23 goals in 60 league games for CSKA Moscow reads very well in the context of the Championship and he is certainly someone who would worry most defences at this level. Worth a shot for sure.

Jordan Obita (Reading)

They have competition for this one with a lot of other Championship clubs apparently interested in his services, especially given that he can play as an attacking left-back. With that in mind, I can see why Fulham would be a good destination for him. But if he fancies a move north, then he’d be guaranteed first team football here.

Andy Robertson simply cannot be replaced by Hull given their current position and I believe they know that. However, not even attempting to get in another attacking left-back would be criminal and in a way would be simply admitting defeat.

Obita is well used to going forward as he was not only playing in a free-flowing, promotion chasing team last season, but was also doing so mainly from a left wing-back position. In 39 appearances in the league (29 starts), he managed 3 goals and 4 assists from this position, which is a fine record and one he could even replicate at the KCOM.

That was his best season going forward and he can only get better given that he is just 23 years of age, making it difficult to know why Reading are so keen to let him leave. He loves to cross a ball, so getting him in the side at the same time as someone like Musa would be a dream.
