Predicted Crystal Palace Lineup To Face Burnley
Crystal Palace failed to build on their victory at Anfield as they fell to a 1-0 loss against Tottenham Hotspur in the mid-week fixture earlier in the week. The Eagles have been in terrific form in the last few games and are on a meteoric rise in the points table. They are currently placed 12th in the points table, just two points away from the top half of the table and face a relatively easy fixture against Burnley at home this weekend. The Clarets lost to Manchester United in the previous round and will hope to put in a strong performance to get something from this game.
Team News
Connor Wickham, James Tomkins, Scott Dann and Pape Souare remain long-term absentees while in-form defender Mamadou Sakho picked up, what looks like an ACL injury and is ruled out for the rest of the season.
Probable Crystal Palace XI:
Formation: 4-3-3
Manager: Sam Allardyce
GK – Wayne Hennessey
The first choice shot-stopper for Palace, Hennessey could not do much to stop Eriksen from scoring in the previous game and will hope to have a better time this weekend.
RB – Joel Ward
The English full-back has been solid at both ends of the field but will have hope to have an easy game against Burnley.
CB – Martin Kelly
The former Liverpool man was superb against a tricky Spurs attack and he will have a slightly easier game against Burnley this weekend.
CB – Damien Delaney
With Mamadou Sakho out for the rest of the season, Delaney is the obvious option for Allardyce at the back. Should start the game.
LB – Jeffrey Schlupp
Schlupp has thoroughly established himself as a regular in the Palace lineup and there is no reason why he wouldn’t start the game against Burnley.
CDM – Luka Milivojevic
The 26-year old has been a workhorse in the midfield for the Eagles this season and should start this game as the deepest of the midfielders.
CM – Jason Puncheon
The versatile midfielder has done a decent job in a slightly deeper role and he will hope to put in a strong performance to help his side to a victory.
CM – Yohan Cabaye
Was used off the bench against the Spurs. He adds some balance to the midfield for Palace and should start this game.
RW – Wilfried Zaha
The exciting winger has been in terrific form this season and will be the danger man to Burnley in this clash.
LW – Andros Townsend
The veteran winger has also helped Palace put in a strong performance in each of the last few games and will hope to help the Eagles get all three points from this tie.
ST – Christian Benteke
Though he was not effective against the Spurs, Benteke will be a huge goal scoring threat for the Eagles against Burnley this weekend.
