In need of reinforcements across the pitch, United are in a dilemma, sacking Van Gaal would result in them pursuing a totally different set of targets under the new manager.
French football magazine France Football has reported that Van Gaal is interested in bringing PSG’s Gregory Van Der Wiel to Old Trafford. Matteo Darmian began the season really well, but it’s been a downhill path for the Italian right-back since the last few weeks with injuries also curtailing his form. LVG has had to deploy Ashley Young as the right-back and wants to strengthen in the area by bringing in Van Der Wiel. The fine form of Serge Aurrier has ensured he has had limited playing time at PSG and the 27 year old will be open to a move in search of playing time.
