As the start of the new campaign approaches, Manchester United fans are eagerly awaiting the announcement of their first-team for the opening day of the Premier League season against Tottenham Hotspur. The fans will be looking forward to see which of their favourite stars will be featured in the starting eleven as manager Louis van Gaal added a number of highly talented players in the summer window.
The Red Devils will face off against north London outfit Tottenham Hotspur and the Dutchman has given a slight idea about which players could feature against Spurs on the 8th of August.
Van Gaal stated recently that Daley Blind, Matteo Darmian and Luke Shaw were all be playing in the game, as he talked about how his defence will be most likely to line up.
“I think I shall play [Luke] Shaw with [Matteo] Darmian, and with Daley Blind. The right central position I have to consider. I am very pleased with the performance of Matteo Darmian, and you can see he can play on the right and left.”
“Also, a benefit of this year’s tour is that we don’t have any injuries. Last year I was forced to use, for example, Tyler Blackett and Jesse Lingard in the first Premier League match.
Shaw will surely feature as a left-back, though he was not in the best of forms last season, whereas Darmian should start ahead of Antonio Valencia and Rafael at the right-back position.
Further, it was also stated that Blind might be used by the manager in a center-back role, rather than what was seen in the previous campaign and it would be quite interesting to see whether things work out or not.
