Chelsea have been looking to bring in Borussia Dortmund’s Henrikh Mekhitaryan into the Stamford Bridge this summer, however, according to recent reports the Blues may end up waiting another year to sign the player.
Mkhitaryan’s future at Dortmund has turned uncertain in recent weeks, while the player’s contract with the club is set to continue till the end of the next season, Chelsea want to sign the player this summer itself and is willing to pay the player’s £50m release clause. However, in this situation Borussia Dortmund has an upper hand as they prepare to keep the player this season after losing too many key players in the likes of Mats Hummels to Bayern Munich, Ilkay Gundogan to Manchester City. Thus Dortmund are not ready to lose a key player to Chelsea.
With 23 goals and 32 assists in all competitions this season, the player will be a positive addition for the Blues as they looked to rebuild the squad for the next season, however seems like they will wait till the next season for the player.
