Wow! Arsenal Eye €100million La Liga Star To Strengthen Their Defence

Arsenal are reportedly interested in bringing Atletico Madrid’s shot-stopper Jan Oblak to London, the 23-year old could be a worthy replacement to the legendary Petr Cech who turns 35 at the end of the season. Though by no means are Wenger’s side agreeing to the price-tag slapped on Oblak.

The Slovenian International had a stellar season last term as he made 38 appearances and conceded just 18 goals creating a record goal per game ratio at 0.47 a game, which is the lowest ratio in the history of La Liga, which won him the Ricardo Zamora Trophy, an award for keepers with the lowest goals per game ratio.

Jan Oblak has drawn fans from many top European clubs and Arsene Wenger has approached Diego Simeone’s side more than a few occasions in pursuit of the star keeper. But the Spanish capital unit is not willing to let go of their number one keeper, pricing him at a ridiculous €100million.

It seems like a ridiculous amount of money for a goalkeeper but all it does is highlight his importance to a team that still has ambitions of winning La Liga and achieving success in European competitions.

The 23-year-old is the only Atletico player to start all 13 league games this season for Simeone, the latest of which was a 3-0 win at Osasuna in which Oblak saved an early penalty.

Of the save, Simeone said: “Osasuna began very strong, and then came the decisive penalty save from Oblak. That is three big saves from him in just a few months. I am very happy for him personally.”

Oblak has already been tipped as one of the best keepers in the world and having seen David De Gea leave them before, the Spanish side will be looking to tie the Slovenian at the capital considering the talent despite him attracting loads of interest from many elite clubs.
