World Cup 2014 – England Squad Prediction

With 12 months to go before the 2014 World Cup Finals in Brazil, who are the players in pole position to make Roy Hodgson’s final 23 man squad? Here I look at the players I believe will go to Rio, and split them into the ‘Dead Certs’, ‘Probables’ and ‘Long Shots’. I also list the players I believe will push hard for a place, but who will ultimately miss out on selection.

I would suggest that Roy could select 80% of his squad today, even though we are still 12 months from the tournament. That leaves at least half a dozen places up for grabs and some experienced players, like Joe Cole, Scott Parker and Joleon Lescott will be hoping to impress again this season. A number of youngsters such as Wilfried Zaha, Raheem Sterling and Jack Butland, will also hope for a break through season, to force their way onto the plane to Rio.

P.S: None of the above mentioned points have anything to do with the friendlies that England played against Brazil and Republic of Ireland. And it is my personal opinion on England’s squad for the World Cup.
