Full Time: Liverpool 7-0 Spartak Moscow

Liverpool oozed style and class as they put up a classy performance to beat Spartak Moscow 7-0 in Champions League last night. Their attack was top-notch once more and the win has helped them surge ahead into the next round, topping Group E. There was nothing that went wrong for the Reds, much to the crowd’s thunderous delight at Anfield.

Regardless of what happens in the upcoming stages, Jurgen Klopp’s men will be remembered for this brutal demolition of Spartak Moscow. Let’s take a look at how the players fared at their home ground.

Liverpool Player Ratings

Loris Karius – 7/10

Karius did not have much to do but he did make one important save. He was hardly tested and spent most of the game watching on as a spectator.

Joe Gomez – 7.5/10

Gomez put in a solid display and proved why he is more reliable than Trent Alexander-Arnold. He did not have to support the attack much and Gomez could instead focus all his attention on defending.

Dejan Lovren – 7/10

Lovren looked a lot more confident and was actually quite decent against Spartak last night. His game has seemingly improved, which will come as good news for Klopp.

Ragnar Klavan – 7.5/10

Much like Lovren, Klavan seemed stronger as well. He made a couple of good blocks and truly dominated the proceedings at the back.

Alberto Moreno – 7/10

Moreno was in his usual form but he did pick up an injury, which could potentially cause problems for Liverpool in their upcoming matches.

Emre Can – 7.5/10

Can displayed a mature sense of intelligence and style as he took up the role of a deep-lying midfielder. The only dampener to his night will be the fact that he received a yellow card.

Georginio Wijnaldum – 8/10

Despite starting in a slightly different position than his usual one, Wijnaldum took ownership of the role and looked highly promising.

Philippe Coutinho – 9.5/10

A clear Man of The Match performance, Coutinho once again proved why he is one of Liverpool’s best. He scored a hat-trick while leading the team as a captain.

Mohamed Salah – 8/10

Salah used his blistering pace once more to wreak havoc upon the opposition. He scored a goal for himself and was also involved in two of Coutinho’s goals.

Sadio Mane – 8.5/10

Mane used his pace to get the better of the opponents. He did look shaky initially but then unleashed his true self on to a frazzled Spartak Moscow. He also contributed to the scoreline with two goals.

Roberto Firmino – 9/10

There are flamboyant strikers and then there’s Firmino. His subtlety and class are truly a treat to watch and he was in full form last night. The Brazilian also scored a goal.

Subs:

James Milner – 8/10

Milner created chances and provided assists, putting in a sturdy all-round display.

Trent Alexander-Arnold – 7/10

He was lively and brought in a lot more solidity at the back.

Daniel Sturridge 6/10

He looked rusty and failed to do much even though he came on to the field with 20 minutes to go.
