Back in January, the Sun claimed that Wolves had tried signing Barcelona forward Munir El Haddadi after he had rejected a new contract with the Catalan club due to lack of first-team football.
A move to Wolves didn’t materialise, however, instead, the 23-year-old went onto sign for Sevilla in a cut-price deal during the winter transfer window.
Munir, 23, had a decent 2018/19 campaign where he netted nine goals and assisted twice in 31 games across all competitions.
He is a really talented player but failed to fulfil his potential at Barcelona and while he joined Sevilla in January, Wolves mustn’t hesitate to reignite their interest in the versatile forward.
Wolves have made their first signing of the summer transfer window on Saturday, with Real Madrid defender Jesus Vallejo joining Nuno Espirito Santo’s side on a season-long loan.
The Midlands oufit have been slow movers in the summer transfer window and the fans will hope the acquisition of Vallejo accelerates the club’s transfer dealings.
Nuno’s side punched above their weight upon their return to the Premier League last season, finishing seventh in the table and qualifying for Europe.
They showed their ambition in the transfer market by signing the likes of Joao Moutinho, Raul Jimenez and Adama Traore. Nuno will be hoping to build on last season’s success and break into the top six in the 2019/20 campaign.
And for that to happen the Portuguese tactician needs a couple of more additions. One area the Wolves boss must address is the forward department, which has become a bit light following the departures of Helder Costa and Ivan Cavaleiro.
The likes of Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota are in dire need of competition and cover, and while Traore will be expected to step up and prove his worth, Nuno could do a brilliant job by signing Munir El Haddadi.
A technically-gifted and tactically versatile forward, Munir can play in different positions across the front-line. He can lead the attack, play as a secondary striker or thrive down the wings, allowing the manager to use him as per a game’s requirement.
The El Escorial-born talent is a smart player, and his ability to link-up play between the midfield and attack would undoubtedly help Wolves improve upon the fluidity of their play in the final third.

Besides, the 23-year-old can offer pace and flair to the Wolves attack that already boasts the services of Jota, Jimenez and Traore. The addition of Munir will make the Wanderers one of the most feared attacking teams in the Premier League.
As Munir has a contract with Sevilla until 2023, Wolves will need to table a handsome bid to prise him away to the Molineux. And should Nuno manages to bring the Sevilla forward to Wolves, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance for the club.
