Will Signing This Superstar Attacker Make Arsenal Favourites For The Title?

At one end it seemed that Riyad Mahrez was going to sign for Chelsea but now it seems the entire rumour has turned 180 degrees and the Leicester City star is on the verge of signing for Arsenal.

The Gunners have reportedly tabled a  bid for the Algerian and it seems only a matter of time before he does make the trip from Leicester to London.

The signing of Mahrez would certainly give the Gunners a great option on the wing and he was one of the best players in the Premier League last season and he does seem to be doing pretty well in the preseason games for Leicester City.

Mahrez moving to Arsenal would greatly strengthen them but would the side be ready to make its mark for the Premier League title, something they have not won for more than a decade? Let us find out.

The best player in the Premier League in one of best teams in England

There has been one big problem for Arsenal over the years ad that is the one issue which the Gunners have not been able to solve, the problem of a central defender. There really isn’t a lot of issues with the attack but the defence needs work.

The defensive frailties of Arsenal will crop its ugly head once again in the upcoming Premier League season and questions will be asked of the Arsenal team and even Arsene Wenger as to why a quality central defender has not come in.

Another issue that the Gunners have to deal with is a lack of leadership, something that has plagued the side since the days of Patrick Vieira leaving the team.

The attack of Arsenal is a formidable unit as it is and it shouldn’t be a surprise to see then add more fuel to a burning fire. Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Riyad Mahrez would strike fear into the heart of any opposing team and if they all click, this could easily be one of the best attacks in Europe, forget Britain.

The Algerian would provide ample support to the other attacks and his movement, finishing and game intelligence is something that has been improving with each season he plays with the Foxes. This would be a huge loss to Leicester but it would provide Arsenal with a bit more sharpness in the final third and they should score a lot of goals in the coming season, but would goals equate to a Premier League title?

Unfortunately, even with the signing of Riyad Mahrez, the other fallacies of Arsenal would still be far too great to overcome. The lack of a quality centre-forward and a central-defender would be too much for the side to deal with.

Arsenal still have a lot of time on their hands and if they can sign someone who can make them rock-solid at the back that would be the final jigsaw in the piece. The 25-year-old does have a lot of choices in terms of which club he does want to play for next season but him being the final transfer piece for the Gunners would not land Mahrez or Arsenal, another Premier League title.
