Will This Newcastle United Attacker Move To Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham missed a great chance to win the Premier League last season, when all the big clubs faltered from the start. One of the main reasons for the collapse at the end, where Tottenham didn’t win a single game in the last four matches, was down to key players missing the games and not having adequate cover in their place. Mauricio Pochettino will have to get reinforcements this summer, if his team are going to mount a proper title challenge next season and run out of steam by the end. The most urgent need is a strike to provide for competition for Harry Kane, someone who can take the pressure of the Englishman’s back and contribute to the goal tally of the team. Spurs have already added Victor Wanyama to their squad.

According to the recent rumours coming out of White Hart Lane, Tottenham are thought to be leading the race to sign Newcastle United striker Ayoze Perez. He was previously being linked with a move to Spurs in January, however things soon fizzled out. Harry Kane has proven himself and deserves to be the number one striker at Spurs. However Pochettino taking the risk of having no suitable cover for Kane, could have been dangerous, if the striker would have gotten injured. Nacer Chadli or Heung-min Son have proven that they can hold the fort for sometime but they do not replace a value held by a proper lethal centre forward.

Tottenham have been linked to a few strikers this summer but nothing has concretized which has led to them shifting attention on Perez. Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez is reported to be keen to let the 22-year-old leave the club in the summer, as he believes the forward is not suited for life in the Championship. But he’ll only allow a transfer to go ahead if a club meets his £10m valuation of the Spaniard. Perez has indicated that he would like to stay at the Championship club and help them back to the top flight. Pochettino likes the versatility of the Spanish striker and his ability to play across the front line.

Tottenham have a talented young squad, that’s progressing in the positive direction and with Champions League qualification this season, they can lure the top stars from the around the world. But when it comes to a striker, they have often failed in their pursuit as they can’t guarantee starting XI place, which for strikers like Perez, is a huge drawback. Though they can benefit a lot from being coached by Pochettino and being amongst this exceptional generation of Tottenham players.

Newcastle is still a very famous club with a huge fan following, if Perez can stick around for one more season and help the club in promotion, then he can seriously raise his stocks and attract attention of even bigger club.
