How Will Chelsea Line Up, If Conte Uses A 4-2-4 Formation? Predicting The Best Possible Team

Antonio Conte isn’t being brought into Chelsea just to get then playing again, he will have to weed out a few players who aren’t doing the job and that invariably means bringing in a few players who can turn things around at the club.

Chelsea have struggled this season and even players such as Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas have been poor. Eden Hazard has looked a shadow of the player who was turning defences left, right and centre and well even Thibaut Courtois looks a Chelsea reserve player rather than a Chelsea starter.

The funny thing is that a new manager does bring an air of positivity in the side and it could be that a lot of players would do well under the new manager or at least under different ideas. Chelsea though will have a few players in the side and it is rumoured that the Italian manager would be looking to employ a 4-2-4 formation, something radically different from his 3-5-2 at Juventus all those years ago.

Who starts for the Blues under

Chelsea don’t really need to work on the goalkeeping department, despite talks of Thibaut Courtois wanting to move away, under Antonio Conte he should get better and well he should remain at the club next season as well.

The defence though is another story, while Cesar Azpilicueta is the one player whose future seems secure, no other defender in Chelsea could be guaranteed a starting XI slot. Kurt Zouma, when he does return from injury, should be the one other defender who gets to start for the Blues.

While Leonardo Bonucci is another player who could be signed from Juventus, John Stones would be the signing to help out in defence. It could be Kenedy who ends up playing as the left-back for Conte next season.

The midfield would have at least one new face in Radja Nainggolan with Cesc Fabregas pulling the strings.

The top four should still have a familiar look with Diego Costa leading the attacking and the hardworking pair of Eden Hazard and Willian bombing up and down the flanks. The biggest signing could be that of Antoine Griezmann into the attack for Chelsea. The French forward is a wanted man all across Europe and with Conte needing some extra impetus in attack, it could be the Atletico Madrid star who gets the nod to play for the Blues.

We look at how the team could look like next season for Antonio Conte as he looks to take Chelsea back to the top.
