Wilder to make no changes – Strongest 3-4-1-2 Sheffield United XI to face Birmingham City

Predicted Sheffield United line-up to face Birmingham City in the Championship

Sheffield United will host Birmingham City at the Bramall Lane in the Championship on Wednesday. Sheffield United’s winning run was halted by Bristol City on Saturday as substitute Marley Watkins’ goal gave the Robins all three points.

United manager Chris Wilder will be desperate to bounce back to winning ways when his side host a struggling Birmingham outfit this midweek.

Team News

Paul Coutts could be in the United squad to face Birmingham after recovering from his broken leg. John Fleck missed the last game with a groin problem and remains doubtful for the midweek clash.

Probable Sheffield United XI

Formation: 3-4-1-2

Manager: Chris Wilder

Dean Henderson (GK)

Henderson has quickly become a fan favourite at Bramall Lane and is a sure starter against Birmingham City.

Dean Henderson

Chris Basham (RCB)

Basham continues to be a part of the three-man backline. A versatile player, Basham has been impressive for the Blades so far this campaign.

John Egan (CB)

After a slow start, Egan seems to have hit his stride at United. With every passing game, he is getting better.

Jack O’Connell (LCB)

A ball-playing defender, O’Connell will look to start attacks from the back against Birmingham. He is a solid defender and would look to keep things tight at the back on Wednesday.

Kieron Freeman (RWB)

Freeman has made the right wing-back position his own with a series of impressive performances. There is no way Wilder is dropping him for the midweek game.

Enda Stevens (LWB)

Stevens has been a regular fixture in the United side and is a definite starter on Wednesday. A very good crosser of the ball, Stevens will look to ask questions to the Birmingham defence with his deliveries from the wing.

Oliver Norwood

Oliver Norwood (CM)

Norwood has proven to be such a shrewd summer acquisition for the Blades. He continues to provide the base for the attackers to express themselves freely and can make late runs into the box. A fantastic passer, Norwood is a vital cog in United’s engine room.

John Lundstram (CM)

As Fleck remains doubtful with a groin injury, Lundstram needs to step up and deliver a power-packed performance on Wednesday.

Mark Duffy (CAM)

Birmingham’s porous defence would give Duffy enough opportunities to create and score goals. He could give the visitors a tough time with his creativity.

David McGoldrick (RS)

McGoldrick is struggling for form and clearly needs a goal to lift his confidence. Hopefully, he gets it against Birmingham.

Billy Sharp (LS)

Sharp looks to be the likeliest of goalscorers for Blades. Apart from goals, he adds a lot of energy and intensity to Blades’ attacking play.
