Predicted Sheffield United Lineup To Face Wolves In The Championship
Sheffield United’s performances this season have been admirable but they still have it all to do to keep up a level that may see them claim a play-off place. A home defeat to Aston Villa last time out was not totally unexpected but was slightly damaging, now that the club are 2 points behind Fulham who are in the final playoff place.
Matters may not be helped on Saturday when they go to league leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers, especially as they won’t enjoy the advantage of their formation, given that their hosts will line up in a very similar way.
Chris Wilder may make one change with John Lundstram perhaps coming in for Ryan Leonard in the usual 3-5-2 formation for the trip to Molineux with the following personnel on show:
Probable Sheffield United XI
GK – Simon Moore
The ‘keeper is likely to keep his place in what will be a very difficult evening.
CB – Chris Basham
Equally comfortable in the midfield, Basham is an underrated player and should once again line up here.
CB – Richard Stearman
The experienced centre-back is well capable of leading this defence towards the playoffs but will find this match tough.
CB – Jack O’Connell
Another underrated player, something now synonymous with the Blades, O’Connell has done very well this term and is liable to carry on in the same vein for the rest of the campaign and looks certain to start this game.
RWB – George Baldock
Will look to get forward when he can, however, he will have his work cut out with Barry Douglas and Diogo Jota on this side of the pitch for Wolves.
LWB – Enda Stevens
The ex-Portsmouth man has had a good year and will once again provide the width down the left-hand side for the Blades.
CM – John Lundstram
Came off the bench last time out to replace Leonard and the two players may well switch roles for this one.
CM – Lee Evans
Should retain his place in the midfield for this clash, although others are also pressing for starts.
CM – John Fleck
The former Rangers man has had a good season in the midfield and should play once again.
ST – James Wilson
The striker has Premier League pedigree and is somewhat proven at this level, so he may yet make the difference for the Blades between now and April.
ST – Leon Clarke
The top scorer is certain of his place in the starting lineup and along with Wilson, he represents the biggest danger to the home side.
