56 goals in 52 games – Man United re-signing this goal machine in January would be an excellent stop-gap solution

Why Zlatan Ibrahimovic would be a clever signing for Manchester United

According to TuttoMercatoWeb (h/t Express), Man United have made contact with Zlatan Ibrahimovic regarding a January transfer.

Manchester United have faced shortcomings this season upfront, being less productive in scoring goals. United have started most of their matches with an inexperienced group to lead their line.

After deciding to sell Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan in the summer, United have failed to land a productive goalscorer to bolster their attack.

Rashford and Martial haven’t enjoyed a fruitful season, with the latter being sidelined for the most part of the season. Playing as a lone striker, Rashford has also struggled to find goalscoring opportunities.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

United are blessed with quick players in Rashford and Daniel James but they have been incapable of forcing a break against the teams that sit deep. Solskjaer has had problems with his forward players in making split-second decisions. Their creativity must be better in difficult situations.

It’s the right time for United to make a move for an experienced striker when the January transfer window opens. Zlatan Ibrahimovic can be the right choice to fill the void in United’s front line. His stats have been impressive almost everywhere he has played.

Most recently, after United had allowed him to join LA Galaxy in the summer of 2018 after a brief stint with them, Zlatan has been one of their top players. Scoring 56 goals in 52 games, the veteran hasn’t stopped himself from banging in goals for his side.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

His two years in United saw him lift the FA Community Shield, the EFL Cup and the Europa league (his first major European title). Zlatan’s prowess and physical ability can be crucial for United. He can be their leader on and off the pitch due to his experience.

He would become a free agent this January and he can be the player United have lacked so far. Ibrahimovic can be a short-time fix for their problems.

The Swede’s goalscoring abilities can be helpful for United, who are trying to improve their attack. United can be guaranteed of goals with his presence on the pitch.

Former footballer Paul Ince claims (Paddy Power h/t Daily Mail) that Zlatan is a lethal goal scorer and that he can find the back of the net in the short time he plays and he can’t be more right.

Verdict

Zlatan may not be a long-term prospect but until United find a proper striker to lead their line, the Swedish legend can help them regain their form and propel Manchester United to the top.

Ibrahimovic, known for his fighting spirit, can be a worthy signing that the Red Devils can make use of. His move to United would be a match made in heaven given the situation at Old Trafford.
